His age is 14 years old. He still studies in secondary school. Eric is a kid that has a problem with self esteem and friend relationship. He wants to be normal, he has a progressive hearing loss and needs to wear hearing aids in order to ensure he is not missing out on important information in class. To find the solutions for a young kid having that such a problem is not easy. One of the reasons is most discrete hearing aids are usually not fitted to young kids because of their ear shape changes shape so quickly at their age. This usually means that the kids has to endure wearing a seeing hearing aid and it maybe be ridiculed by his lot of friends.

'Best hearing aids' advices.

The most expensive and easiest approach is to buy him a Completely In the Canal aid which the other kids won't see. More than likely at thatage the aid will need to be re-cased every year at a cost of a couple of hundred dollars. Before that, we need to investigate how effective the hearing aids too, because often a reason for not wearing it is that in a background noise of school the results are so poor the child has little or not reason to wear it. It all depends on the quality of the system he has.

'Best Hearing aids' advices no.2...

For others method, what we can do is try to impress upon him how the importance of education, and remind him that wearing a hearing aids is not embarrass rather than do not know how to answer teachers question or being the last in the class. Putting attention to teacher's lesson is more valuable rather than entertain people or friends negative perception. Exposing himself by actively answering question inside th class will gain his confidence and automatically avoiding people to concentrate to his hearing aids.

'Best Hearing aids' advice no.3...

Some people belief that wearing a hearing aid keeps the speech recognition centers of the brain more active, which helps prolong speech intelligibility. Not wearing the aid makes the brain more 'lazy' at understanding speech which seems to compound the problem. By ensuring Eric wearing his hearing aids will helps this kid to be more active and understanding a speech since hearing aids functioning is to give back people hearing and better communications.

'Best Hearing aids' advice no.4...

Another approach would be to consider letting him grow his hair to cover it up. But it is surely depends of the necessarily and his personality. Some boys aren't suitable to have a long hair. Otherwise there will look like a girl. Also, some school are so strict (dependson school rule) that not allowing boys to have a long hair.

'Best Hearing aids' conclusion...

Last, I wish we had the right answer for Eric. All we can tell him is that hearing is a precious thing, that there are people out there who don't have the opportunity to hear music, voices, everyday sounds we take for granted. If anybobody outside there have same problem like eric, please take the advantage of this precious gift while you can.

Best hearing aids

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://best-hearing-aids.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-do-we-can-help-this-14-yr-old-kid.html' title='How do we can help this 14 yr old kid, learn to accept wearing his hearing aids?
